I’m Back

I’m Back

Honestly, maintaining a healthy lifestyle is probably one of the hardest things to do in life, and as someone who professes to do it and tries to inspire or motivate others to follow suit, I cannot say that I am proud of what I went through over the last two months.

My cheat week had turned into a cheat month! 😦

For those who followed my past blog posts, I was doing a 12-week challenge that was seriously challenging but I managed to make it to the last day, losing about 8kgs for which I am truly proud. In the process, however, I was seriously deprived of all the things that I liked. Although I tried to continue to eat healthy foods and workout 5-6 times a week and sometimes twice a day, I traveled and the holidays happened and things kind of went out of control. It seems close to impossible to maintain a healthy lifestyle when you are traveling so I stopped eating healthy and guilt gripped me. When I got back home, I mentally wanted to get back to my normal healthy self but it was not easy. Getting to that point where you can totally eat clean is a process, but I’m happy to say I’m getting there. I also had to get back to the gym which was also hard since I was inactive for almost the whole of December, but I had to push through and I can say I’m  back to my old me: the #GymRat.

One of the things I would like to achieve as a Fitness enthusiast is to always find the healthiest option around when I am going to eat, for instance, one can always find some kind of vegetables to incorporate into your meal instead of eating a whole plate full of carbs. I would also like to learn to workout outside of the gym, many of the exercises we do in the gym can be done at home or even outside in a park. I have become so dependent on the gym that I find it hard to work out on my own. The kind of drive you get in the gym pushes you to do something even when you do not feel like working out, however, I need to push myself outside of the gym even when I do not feel like exercising at all.

How it should be done!

This blog has kept me in check, as I have received lots of great feedback from people who were inspired by this blog; I received a couple of emails and messages from people asking for tips. As a result, I felt terribly guilty about the way I was eating and how inactive and sedentary I had become over the festive season. I had to get back to healthy eating and hitting the gym – if anything, to ensure that I do not let down those who had believed in me.

This simply means that it is not easy to eat healthy and hit the gym at least 3-4 times a week but I guess it is normal to slip off during the holiday/festive season. All-in-all, I can gladly say that I did not let that hiccup pull me off the path I have chosen to maintain a healthy lifestyle through eating clean and getting regular exercise. I want to thank each and every one of you that reached out to me, to ask me for the diet I follow or just to say that my blog inspired you! You inspire me too!

I wish you all a healthy 2017, make ambitious goals, stay consistent and DON’T GIVE UP!!

Promise to be more active and share useful information that can help you become better and healthier this year!
